This was a comment on the old site that i feel needed to be addressed.  Being the considerate individual i am i decided to make a day of it.  Look for my response tomorrow…

To believe or not to believe….

First of all, I believe that people who do not believe in something greater than themselves are in the end, lonely, and selfish people.

Let me explain:

I believe that religion is an abomination of spirit. People who belong to a gang, mob or what they call church are no different than any other gang/mob/church. They ask you to “do” things to belong, give them money and if you don’t, you are threatened by the gang/mob/church to believe you will “burn in hell”.

I am not a Christian;
Christians are small thinking, prejudice people. You must believe what they believe and be like them(small thinking) and if you are not like the gang/mob/church, you are not part of the group (prejudice). And to think that they get tax exemptions!

A Power greater then self;
With that said, why do I think those that do not believe in a power greater than self to be lonely and selfish? Because we are human. Humans do not live in a vacuum. We need each other and we are connected by some sort of energy or power or spirit or what ever you want to call it. Believing that you can do it alone will make one very lonely because you can not do anything alone. Furthermore, believing that you are doing it alone makes you selfish because you are not doing anything in a vacuum.

So call yourself an atheist if you do not believe in God, but do not deny that there is some connection on some level that you can not explain, see or prove and that is a belief. This connection is an energy, some call it spirit, but non-the-less it is there. It is there when you are “alone” walking in the woods,or at the beach or in your room. What a comfort to know you are not alone, that you are connected to other humans by this energy. I feel sorry for those that really think they are doing it themselves, what a lonely life you must live.

Religion Quote of the Day

“For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD.  Whoever does any work on it must be put to death.”  – Exodus 35:2

Religion Myth of the Day

Following the biblical flood, man was united, sharing a unified language and culture.  Man decided to build a tower to reach the heavens.  God saw this and decided to scatter man upon the earth and confound their speech (what a dick).  Thats how the bible explains the origins of all the languages on Earth.

    To say someone is lonely and selfish because they do not believe in some sort of higher energy/power/spirit that unites us is not only ignorant, but also contradictory to your original thoughts on small thinking and prejudice people. You said it yourself: If someone doesn’t believe what the church/mob is selling, they are shunned by the church/mob. However you’re now saying that if someone doesn’t believe in this higher power/spirit/energy field or whatever the hell you’re talking about, they are selfish and lonely? And how do you know who feels lonely anyway? Did this super spirit tell you in your dreams? Or are you making a pretty huge assumption?

    I do not believe in God, the tooth fairy, or this special type of invisible electricity you are blabbering about. I am an atheist and I don’t feel lonely. I don’t recognize this connection or higher power of belief you say I “cannot deny” (your words). I have chosen a pretty awesome group of friends to surround myself with, and it wasn’t because some omnipotent force field was playing Jedi mind tricks on me. When I am sitting in my room alone or walking on the beach by myself, I feel comfort in knowing that I AM alone. Yes, I believe people can live their lives in complete control – nothing special guiding them one way or another. Not everything has to happen for a goddamn reason.
    That’s just what I believe, so please DO NOT feel sorry for me. Us lonely, selfish atheists don’t want your pity.

    May the force be with you.
